Ongoing and Future Projects

Introduction

The 24-hour cycle is comprised of three main activities: sleep, physical activity, and sedentary behaviour.  However, the terminology used in the literature to describe these behaviors varies from ‘movement behaviors’ to ‘activity behaviors’ to other terms. To prevent confusion and ensure precise scientific communication for future research, public health guidelines, and policy a consensus on language is needed.

Our Plan: Delphi Study

The Delphi study aims to develop clear, concise, and consistent terminology for describing the 24-hour cycle of physical activity, sleep, and sedentary behaviour using a systematic approach. Our steering committee consists of 38 members from 15 countries and 12 organizations (such as the World Sleep Society, International Society for Physical Activity and Health, etc), and will be recruiting and screening Delphi panelists to ensure diverse representation for the Delphi study.
